DECEMBER 2015 - Weekends Receives John Hanbury Historical Society Award
The public is invited to a reception on December 3rd from 5 P. M. to 7 P. M. when Weekends, 125 South Main St., Kilmarnock , VA, is presented the prestigious John Paul Hanbury Award by the Northern Neck of Virginia Historical Society. This 1904 Sears House which came to Kilmarnock by steamboat, was saved from destruction and re-purposed with outstanding restoration practices as a retail store featuring fine clothing for men and women. This award is named after the late John Paul Hanbury, formerly of Irvington, whose portfolio included dozens of historic properties including his award-winning restoration of our 1813 Virginia Executive Mansion in Richmond. Bearing his name, this award recognizes excellence in the preservation, restoration, or rehabilitation of properties of historical or architectural significance of the Northern Neck where the work has been accomplished within the past five years.
